Landscape Management Short Course

The Landscape Management Short Course is an immersive, condensed, intensive entry-level educational experience for personnel in the Green industry, as well as those with experience seeking best management practices in the areas of business and landscape management that is hosted by Purdue University Extension.

The dates for the short course are February 18-22 and February 25-March 1.

 

Attending this course will allow a two week experience on Purdue’s campus, learning from specialists and researchers from several disciplines.

 

The course will explore the following topics designed for specifically for the landscape industry:

Diagnostic Training

Planting

Pruning

Plant Selection

Weed Control

Hardscape (paver) Installation

Marketing

Learning Objectives:
After completing this course the attendees will be able to:

  • Define the scope of landscape management.
  • Diagnose and recommend treatments for plant problems.
  • Explain markets and marketing techniques.
  • Describe best management practices for paver installation.
  • List BMP’s for pruning, planting, fertilization, and weed control.

 

Lectures and Labs:
This course will be taught in a combination of lectures, labs, discussions, and a field trip. The course lectures will focus on principles of business practices and production and be discussion-based, supplemented with slide presentations, handouts, and guest speakers.

 

 

This course has been designated as an approved Indiana Workforce Development Training program that reimburses employers for completing the course. More information can be found at
